Prototype New Weapon: Zapper
This spring I have bee prototyping a new weapon I will call the zapper. What does the Zapper do? Well you create an angry little cloud that zaps people of course! The item follows the track and zaps all those it passes, dealing more damage as it moves along.
The Mario Kart Blue Shell is one of the most iconic weapons. Its purpose is pretty important to balancing the game. This Item fills a similar purpose in creating an opportunity for players to regain lost ground.
Worked on Ice Map:
This map is pretty unique to racing games because you backtrack along the course. This is pretty cool. What is not cool is the little bugs that happen because the game doesn’t want you to cheat and take (un-intended) shortcuts. So I have been fixing those bugs.
Boost On Start:
The start of a race is like a first impression. A problem was that weapons at the beginning heavily favored those in 5th and 6th position. Everyone would get blasted by the person that started with a shotgun. To diversify the start I added boosting on start. If you time it right you will launch ahead.
Worked on Lava Map:
The lava map was not as fast paced as Deli Square. I had a chance to play test this map with my brother and really honed in where the boosts should be to bring up the intensity
